Sustainability & Emissions Methodology Expert (f/m/d)

Hamburg
Full-time
Permanent employee

About us

At shipzero, we believe that cleaner logistics and better business go hand in hand. We help companies measure, understand, and reduce the carbon emissions in their supply chains — with granular, shipment-level data that turns sustainability from a compliance exercise into a competitive advantage. Our story: Less Carbon. More Margin.

We're a team of around 45 people in Hamburg, and we're looking for the person who becomes the expert voice on emissions methodology — internally and in the market

Your mission

You are the backbone of our emissions methodology knowledge. Teams across shipzero rely on you to make sure we get the science right, stay ahead of regulatory developments, and translate complex standards into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Own our methodology expertiseEstablish and maintain deep knowledge of GHG accounting and transport emissions calculation methodologies, including GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 14083, and the GLEC Framework
  • Be the internal go-to personSupport colleagues across teams with questions, reviews, and quality checks — you make everyone around you smarter and more confident
  • Shape our product: Feed your expertise directly into product development by working closely with our Product team to define requirements and ensure our platform reflects the latest best practice in emissions calculation and reporting
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Monitor and communicate regulatory updates, new standards, and emerging best practices in sustainability, logistics, and ESG reporting — before they become urgent
  • Enable others to explain it: Help translate methodology complexity into clear materials, guides, and documentation that our teams — and occasionally our clients — can actually use

Your skills

  • In-depth knowledge of GHG calculations and reporting standards — GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 14083, and the GLEC Framework (this is non-negotiable, it's the core of the role)
  • Strong understanding of the logistics and transportation industry and its sustainability landscape
  • Ability to explain complex methodology to non-experts clearly and without losing accuracy — written and verbal
  • Demonstrable research and analytical skills with sharp attention to detail
  • Fluent in English and German
Nice to have:
  • Experience working in or alongside B2B software products
  • Familiarity with product management tools such as Jira
  • Previous experience supporting client-facing teams or contributing to external documentation

Your profile

You'll be joining a newly formed Client Experience team that brings together domain experts, UX thinking, and customer understanding under one roof. Your work directly shapes how our platform evolves and how our clients succeed — and you'll have real influence over both.
We're rebuilding how we work: more agile, more self-directed, with a strong belief that people do their best work when they understand the "why" behind it.

If you're the kind of person who gets genuinely excited when a new ISO standard drops — and can also explain it to a CFO in plain language — we'd love to hear from you.
